Unfortunately, for some people, it is all too common.  I believe John's (The Moderator) .ini reset should fix the problem...

"With MMM not running, use Windows Explorer to search for "musicmaker.ini" and delete the largest one you find - it will be 14kb or more in size. Then start MMM.

When you search, ensure you search hidden files and folders depending on the version of windows you have: the setting will be different as will the locaton of the .ini file."

Good luck!

Hi

If the ini fix does not work then the problem may lie elsewhere.

If the crash occurs when you do a particular thing in MMM eg import a specific audio clip or try to use an effect or synthesiser then there may be a corrupt file somewhere.

Does MMM produce a crash log - if so send it to Magix with a polite request for them to look at it - maybe they can get something from the log.

It is not always MMM that is the cause of the crash, certain 'scan on demand' anti virus/spamware/'protection' programs insist on scanning every file that a program uses and this 'interruption' can cause  crashing (even worse they can sometimes prevent you logging on to a computer).

If the problem is reproducable then the only way to diagnose this is to turn off your anti virus, anti spamware and other 'protection' software while disconnected from the Internet and eliminate them one by one by repeating the same procedures which cause the crashing and turning each one on individiually and then in combinations.

Intermittent crashes which cannot be reproduced are very difficult to diagnose.

I wiil apologise in advance if this sounds like all gloom and doom, however diagnosing crashes once you have eliminated all the above is very very frustrating.

John
