Is it possible to edti HDR files with Video deluxe 2026 Premium?

I bought Video deluxe 2026 Premium, but now I want to edit HDR content. When it upload it to the program and render it to a video, the quality of the colors becomes very bad. Is there something to do about that so I can edit HDR contant or do I have to buy a new program?
I would like to hear it!

Hi

I have moved you question to the correct section of the forum, Video deluxe (VDL) 2026 is the new name for Magix Movie Studio formerly known as Movie Edit Pro

HDR files can be edited in VDL 2026 with some limitations

From what you have described, would suggest that the video is either encoded in:

  1. the BT 2020 colour space, and you are exporting in the BT 709 colour space, which has less dynamic range and is compressing the colour space.

This is where the limitation of VDL 2026 comes in - it does not support exporting as HDR (BT2020), you need a BT 2020 to BT 709 LUT, a 'cube' file to change colour spaces. You may already have one in the Templates tab, Movie Looks effects.

    or

  2. Is Cine-D, DLog etc, these will usually look 'flat' ie paler. In this case you also need a LUT to change the colour space. The camera manufacturer should have these avaialble..

If neither of the above fix the issue then download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

If you need to export as HDR then you need to upgrade to Video Pro X17 which supports this for HEVC and AV1 video formats.

Depending on how recently you bought VDL 2026 you may be able to 'exchange' the software for the price difference.
