Issues with MEPP 2021

izack wrote on 1/20/2021, 10:37 AM

I have two questions:

I upgraded to the new MEPP 2021, After many tries I was able to download it.

In my projects I am able to download all the tracks for each project, and they are able to play. however in the viewing screen nothing shows up and it is blank (black) so I am unable to watch the video playing Are there any solutions to this after the update that I am not aware?

Also, after the update, all files from my computer ( that I don't need for my projects like links, contacts, documents, etc.) are also downloaded (above My Projects area) Is there any harm to these files if I delete them from this area ?

Thank you everyone for your help & patience while I learn.

Hi Izack.

Are your files mov. files? If so have you installed QuickTime?

If they are not mov files have you checked the specs of your machine against minimum requirements for the current version of MEP? If the files are HEVC (H265) do you have the additional HEVC codec on your machine for playback?

If you have no suitable Intel GPU or graphics card you may have to turn off all hardware acceleration options within the program settings and not use Direct X but compatibility mode for Windows.

Cautiously I will say do not delete anything in the windows. Deleting there will delete the files on your disks.

Yes you are right, I did not check the requirements prior to the upgrade. I will definitely do that in the future. I think my safest bet is to uninstall and go back to the previous version, Are there directions to safely uninstall and reinstall the last version so I don't lose anything? Thank you very much I appreciate your support.

Hi Izack.

It depends on how old you last version was.

I think the servers only go back to the 2018 version. To check please go here.

You should deregister your current copy of MEP before uninstalling. That can be done from within the program under help or in your Magix account.

If you need an earlier version I suggest you get in touch with Magix direct at either sales@magix.net or infoservice@magix.net. If you have only very recently bought the program use the sales@magix.net to contact and explain your problem and ask if you could have a refund. It's worth a try.

Do be aware that sometimes going back to a previous version of the program may not give you all the patches or third party plug-ins you had last. This I think is why people are given the choice of having backup files when they download the program so they can restore the program as they had it last. You may need to generate a new activation code or ask for one.

Hi

. . . . I think my safest bet is to uninstall and go back to the previous version . . . .

If your version is earlier than MEP 2018 you can download it from you account at magix.com, the downloads currently go back as far as MEP 16.

However - there are 2 potential issues:

  1. versions earlier that MEP 2015 may not work correctly if you are on Windows 10

  2. videos where the audio is AC3 - stereo or surround sound, at best you will only get the video with no sound - the expansion package for the audio codec is no longer available.

I don't know if this is the same issue but I checked and My Pictures and none of the photos will show in the viewer screen as well

Hi

What format are the photos and the device make/model they were taken with?

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the video clips, post (copy & paste) the results from the Text view in MediaInfo, do the same for one of the images.
