just purchased Movie Edit Pro 2015 and dissapointed to find that videos from my NextBase carcam play fine in Windows Media Player it is too "jerky" to be of any use in Magix. The frame rate is only 15fps. Have I omitted to adjust something in magix please

Just purchase Movie Edit Pro 2015 and dissapointed to find that videos from my CarCam (Nextbase302G) run very very jerky when imported into Magix. They play fine in Windows Media Player even at their default of 15fps. I have set Magix to 15fps but still not useable. Have I still to alter something in Magix? any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi

Hi

You have omitted to tell us your computer specification and the video format.

The computer may not be powerful enough to handle HD video playback smoothly in MEP without proxy file editting turned on

At 15 fps you are not going to get smooth video when there is movement across the video. Iit will be jerky, the faster the movement the more jerky the movement is.

Thanks John, but why is it perfect in Windows media player, I am only (so far) playing it back the same in the Magix programme. I never had this problem using Movie Edit 5 although I cant recall what my previous carcam recorded in. As it was a cheaper carcam it may have recorded at a lower spec, so, would changinging my existing carcam to a lower spec be of any use do you think? What is the "proxy" thing you mentioned, would this be the answer.

Regards

Mike

Hi

You still have omitted the specification of your computer.

The proxy option is to be found in the Projects settings -

I am finding out the machine spect John, but as for the proxy option, I do not have that 4th option as per below

Just to complicate things more, I have just reloaded Movie Edit 5 and the videos from the carcam run fine. So is it a 64bit problem do you think?

Hi John thanks for your help, the problem has now been resolved. Although the carcam records in AVI, I think it must be a generic AVI to the GPS software of the camera. I converted the files to mpeg's and they run perfect in MEP.
