Lagging on editing MP4 Files

knight67 wrote on 10/15/2014, 10:21 PM

Hi all. I have lag problems when using my software, namely only when editing MP4 video files. I have Magix movie edit pro 2014 plus. My laptop is a i7 2.2ghz quad core processor. 16gb of memory. SSD HD, running windows 8.1 64bit. So i have more than what is the requirement. So why the lagging still? I have at least 14gb of memory available, still probs when trying to view the videos, takes like 5 - 10 seconds for all time frame to be able to watch, then it freezes up and have to wait again. Any solutions please. Thanks.

Hi,

Do you have the Proxy editing feature enabled? (Page 194 of the PDF manual.)

Otherwise, start by checking the summary I just included in this post a few minutes ago:

Hiya, thanks Terrypin, its seems to have solved the problem. I just enabled Proxy editing. It does say however that the resolution is lower, would that be still the case when i transfer the videos completed onto dvd?

No, that low resolution is only during preview. Your DVD will be at standard resolution.

You can choose different Proxy resolutions by hitting Alt+R key.

Also 2.2Ghz processor is below the recommended speed for HD editing

Are you activating the little lightning bolt symbol at the bottom left of the preview monitor? This lowers preview resn. without creating proxies - choices for deactivating other loadings are selectable in the dropdown adjacent to the Flash.
