Loss of audio on finished DVD disc

lindeanlad wrote on 10/14/2018, 3:10 PM

Hi there. I use Movie Edit Pro Premium and all has being going well. However, for some reason no audio is now coming through on my latest completed disc. I'm wondering if I've accidentally unchecked something, but can't figure why the audio has suddenly disappeared. The audio is fine in edit mode, but for some reason the audio files are not being transferred to (or are not being picked up on) the burned disc. Does anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks, John.

I am rendering right now, so I can not get to details, but there IS a "render Audio/don't renderAudio" check box somewhere. (may be called record don't record?) I think in the render settings. I think in the pop up window before you actually render. (maybe under an "advanced" button.)

Many thanks again for taking the trouble to reply. Unfortunately I've been unable to find the record/don't record pop-up window you mention, so will continue to try to unravel what's going on! Cheers.

File> export media> advanced> Check "encode audio". This is not the checkbox I remember, but there have been a lot of updates since the last time I rendered without Audio and needed it. May not be your issue, but it is the simplest fix to check.

Also, File > export media> under export settings in Export window...... MEDIA: Dropdown should say "Video + Audio" not just "video".

There is one other place I cannot find, with the option to render Audio or not that I mentioned in my first post. Good luck . sorry I was not more help.

I was wondering if there's any way to increase the capacity of a DVD to hold more than 1hr 30mins of film footage without affecting the quality of the video? Is this possible?

Yes, but only by reducing the bit rate (=quality) of the actual video footage as it is being exported. In practice a small reduction is not really going to be especially noticeable but you will need to check carefully (perhaps by exporting a short section in a series of decreasing bit rates, until you find the quality unacceptable). Footage that includes much on-screen action/movement is especially likely to display with unwanted artifacts if the bit rate is too low.

OTOH, you could export your footage to Dual-Layer DVD, assuming your burner can handle such discs, and you will then be able to burn more like 2.75 hours without needing to reduce the bit rate.

Many thanks for the advice, Jeff. Looks like I'll have to edit footage to fit DVD, as losing quality not an option! Really appreciate your help. Thanks again.
