Magic movie editor pro 2015 premium will not burn in ntsc format 720 x 480

haasrd wrote on 9/26/2014, 6:47 PM

Magix Movie Edit Pro 2015 Premium will not allow any video file (VOB) or and ISO file to be created in NTSC format. No matter how many way I have tried to burn a dvd it always is created in 720x 576 or Pal. All settings are set to NTSC, My 2014 version has to be used to actually use the Burning process. I started with the downloaded version which didn't work and now the backup cd version is doing the same thing.

All other aspects of the editor work fine just can't create a NTSC format disk. It creats it in PAL format everytime.

Processor:AMD Phenom II 965 processor   3.40 GHz

8 gig Ram

64Bit Operating system  Windows7 Home Premium

the update to 14.0.0.162 did not resolve my problem.

I am capturing the video in ntsc: 1920x1080. The profile and level options in the Video (mpeg2) page are greyed out and will not allow me to change the settings to 'Main'. This may be the problem. In version 2014 premium those option are available.

Another factor in the mix is the fact the the Video_TS properties  file details list the the width as 720 and the height as 576. But the Video_01_1 file properties has a width of 720 and a height of 480.

When I encode the file in MME pro 2014 both of the files(Video_TS and Video_01_1) show a width of 720 and a height of 480. So there seems to be a application glitch not encoding correctly.

Hi

No problem here creating a NTSC 720*480 DVD from PAL 1920*1080i HD video - the settings I used were:

Note - I am using the Intel QuickSync encoder, you will be using the MainConcept encoder in which case you need to check the Advanced video settings for Video within the encode - consult the MPEG 2 encoder settings (MainConcept) in the PDF manual under Help

There is a new patch out for MEP 2015 - if you have not updated the program do the update first before testing again - this may fix the issue

HTH

Hi

I have rechecked my initial burns and tried several others in MEP 2015 and 2014 and get the same results.

The menu VOB - it is the wrong format - PAL 720 * 576 for MEP 2015. (I will own up that I only checked the main movie in my previous post )

I have reported this as a bug because nothing I change in MEP 2015 has any effect on the menu VOB.

I have the same problem and the update did not fix the problem. I have a help desk ticket in with Magix. I ran their Sysck program and sent screen shots. No answer yet in almost a week. I did manage to take the PAL disk and import it with 2014 and burn a copy that way. It;s a shame that 2014 will not read 2015 files, different format.

. . . . It;s a shame that 2014 will not read 2015 files, different format.  . . .

There is no difference in the MVP or MVD formats.

The only time MEP 2014, 2013 and MX  have a 'problem' with a MEP 2015 project file or movie file is where an effect used in 2015 is not available in 2014 - MX - the effect is then dropped.

Hi

I have had feedback to my bug report to Magix on this issue - they are going to look into this.

Good news.....I got an answer from tech support

"Thank you for your message.

Sorry for the delay as I had to try and recreate the same problem here and it seems I can also reproduce the error. For some reason my version of the software is also sending out a PAL format even if I specifically set NTSC. I have sent this down to our developers and hopefully they can address this soon in an update or patch."

It is a relief that the problem can be duplicated. Thank you Bob Braun!!

I did an experiment hoping it would be a workaround.......I renamed the 2015 file format .MVD to the 2014 file format .MVP and the older 2014 program could not load it. So even though the 2015 can read 2014 files but not the other way around, it's to bad the 2015 .MVD is not backward compatable. Thx John

I am running into the same problem of the VOB files being in PAL and Not NTSC format. I have the latest patches installed for Movie Edit Pro 2015 premium. I have checked every setting to ensure NTSC is chosen, but all exports are still PAL. This did not occur in Movie Edit Pro 2014

haasrd and fradsham:

Magix Support has assured me that the patch has fixed the problem we've been discussing.

"...the particular problem that existed here before (with the menu VOB always being flagged as PAL) has been fixed, which is something anyone can verify using e.g. MediaInfo onthe VOB file after a proper, fresh encoding of the project."

Are you both sure you did carefully re-encode the project properly (including the menus) in your most recent DVD-burning attempts?

Perhaps others who had this issue can give us their feedback? Or anyone with MEP 2015 for that matter, unlike me.

Hi

To reinforce Terrys answer.

If you do not check the following options when you get the dialog shown below

     Rewrite chapter menu . . .

     Rewrite film menus . . . .

and click     Encode All

you will not see any changes to the DVD files.

Also check this installation topic here to see if it applies.
