Magix Edit 17 Plus Installation Question

CarpentersMate wrote on 4/13/2019, 5:00 PM

Hi Gang

I'd inquiring about installing Magix Edit 17 Plus ontop of MPE15. Do I have to REMOVE MPE15 before installing Magix Edit 17 Plus? Does a previous owner have to 'UNREGISTER' the program before selling it to someone else? Also do you guys know if Magix Edit 17 Plus was available strickly with Discs? Or was it offered as a download version (which I'd like to avoid).

Thank You

@CarpentersMate

Hi

. . . . installing Magix Edit 17 Plus ontop of MPE15. Do I have to REMOVE MPE15 before installing Magix Edit 17 Plus . . .

No both versions can co-exist on the same system.

. . . . Does a previous owner have to 'UNREGISTER' the program before selling it to someone else? . . . .

Yes, they should contact support to get the program de-registered.

. . . . Magix Edit 17 Plus was available strickly with Discs? . . . .

Yes it did come on discs, I would be dubious about buying a download version, whether on disc or not, or a 'copied / backup' disc.

Hi,

You can install previous versions without removing older versions. It is only recently that a newer version replaces the previous version as it installs.

I don't recall how many installations you could do before another one was not allowed, five, I think. Yes, a previous owner should deregister as the serial number will be registered to his account. How to do this, I don't know.

I believe that there was a choice about purchasing back then - if you wanted to download the program, you still received it on CD's. I have 2014 on CD. I don't know what happened with 17 or MX and I can't find any other CD's. I do, however, have the files for the Slideshow music and Soundtrack Maker Styles - pretty much the same ones as the current version of MEP.

Funny, when I looked through some drawers, I found the first version of MEP that I had. It was called Video Deluxe back then, and I registered it in 2003.

I only want download versions; those disks just take up space and I find it difficult to part with them. Better to not get them in the first place. I can still download from Magix, all of the versions of MEP that I purchased, except for the first one.

Normally, I keep all of the download files, including the additional content so that I don't have to download again, just run them.

Edit: I see that John EB beat me to it.

Thanks Guys - Let me clear: I do NOT want a download version. I'm inquiring (just to make sure). I'm ole fashioned and would rather have the actual physical Disc.I'll try to get the seller to deregister the darn serial number ....

Thanks

Oh my! I stuck in that old CD of VDL(2001?) and looked at the contents. I thought that I had just about everything that has been made available, but I didn't have any of the Audio files or the Styles (Easy and Funk) that are on this old CD. I just copied them all to my Soundpools folder. There is some good stuff there.

Good luck with your quest.

EXCELLENT IDEA: You actually got me thinking brow! I still have Magix Edit Plus 10 (and too has) extra CONTENT on a Video-Audio Archive 2 CDROM < Can I manually extract those those files and save them to my library?

Yes, you should be able to simply copy from the CD and paste somewhere. Because I have MusicMaker, I have a public folder called Soundpools. I keep all (most) audio files obtained from Magix in these folders. In MEP/VPX, I created a link to this in the Import tab so that I can quickly access these folders. I also included audio files from other sources under the same location for easy access.

Sometimes, Magix does not use all of the same material in subsequent versions, so it's important to make a copy of these and keep them especially if you uninstall a version. This includes much more than just audio files - effects, transitions, collages, etc.

And Thanks John EB I'll follow up on whether MEP17 was originally registered?
