Magix misreading the FPS of my movie by 1FPS - Is this a software bug

Apollo89x wrote on 7/6/2018, 5:37 AM

Hello I'm having an issue with my Magix editor, which hopefully someone can help resolve for me.

My movies are shot in 50fps originally, I use Windows Movie Maker as my primary editor for them, and then export the video out of Windows Movie Maker as a 25fps file.

I have checked the properties of the file and it shows as being 25fps, even re-checked it in VLC player and it also confirms the file is 25fps.
However when I upload the video onto Magix to do my secondary editing, Magix shows a message saying the the file is 26fps... :S

I don't understand why Magix is doing this/misreading the FPS of the file,
but does anyone know how to fix this, if it is a bug with Magix's software?

Thanks

@Apollo89x

If you analyse the file with MediaInfo - this will tell you the actual framerate that is recorded in the files metadata.

I have never had a problem with any Magix editing software misreading frame rates on footage I have filmed, so the error is almost certainly from a frame rate error in the original footage, or in your file exported from WMM, probably the latter.

Hello mate just did that but it also shows the same info, that the nominal FPS is 25.000

On Magix, when it shows that tab about Magix misreading the FPS, I just click ''Do Not adjust the active movie settings to the video'',

Which forces Magix to code the file as a 25fps file.

But I do worry why Magix is reading the FPS info wrongly for multiple videos.. :/

For that to be true though MediaInfo, Videolan VLC player, and Microsoft Windows 'file properties' info, would all individually each have to be malfunctioning/misreading the FPS then though.. :S

As each of them individually show the file's FPS as being 25fps.

But so Magix is the only application which keeps on misreading the FPS incorrectly, and showing it as 26fps.
