Magix Movie 2014 will not install with windows 8

I'm sure so many people have had this issue but I've not seen anyone resolve this question! I'm having literally a nightmare trying to install Magix Movie Pro 2014 onto my Windows 8 laptop. I'm starting to think it's actually IMPOSSIBLE! I get to the green bar where it's installing and then it freezes. I have: -

1) gone through every task manager item running & closed them & tried to install

2) started my laptop in safe mode & tried to install but got the error 'windows installer service could not be accessed)

3) gone through to delete the windows update KB2918614 but I do not have it (I have many KB codes but not this one)

4) opened the folders appdata/roaming (after making the hidden folders visible) to find 'layout' but no such folder exists. I do not have the folder Magix/etc where it is supposed to be (and I've installed it as much as it will)

5) banged my head against a brick wall in frustration

Hi

 . . . Windows 8 laptop . . . .

What is the make, model and specificaton of the laptop?

Are you running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 - there is a difference?

The first half of the program installs in two seperate parts - the first is the Download Manager, (1) , this then downloads the first half of the program (2), and then this is installed (3)  - at which point does the installation fail .

. . . . 1) gone through every task manager item running & closed them & tried to install . . . .

Did this include disabling your Antivirus ?

. . . . 2) started my laptop in safe mode & tried to install but got the error 'windows installer service could not be accessed) . . . .

You cannot install programs which use the Windows installer in safe mode.

. . . . 3) gone through to delete the windows update KB2918614 but I do not have it (I have many KB codes but not this one) . . . .

Is Windows patched up to date?  If not it should be brought up to date before attempting ti install again.

Did you read this article?

Thanks for the reply! I'm running windows 8.1 on a hp 15 notebook laptop.

I've got as far as the initial installation, I have yet to be prompted to input my activation code

Yep I've deactivated everything that was running including anti virus.

I only tried installing in safe mode as it was one of the many suggestions which I'd found online. I'm literally trying everything!

Windows is fully up to date

I've read through all of the articles on the magix website relating to installations & tried each one of them. I'm running from a disc rather than a download
