I have tried MEP 2014 and the premium version comes with Newblue ColorFast (a color correction app) and ProDad Heroglyph (a title app). As for new FX, I did not see much of anything new or different in the availble FX. I did see a huge improvement in rendering speed although still not as fast as some others on the market. Hopefully John will chime in here as I think he has been using 2014 for a while.
Re effects: Not an advertisement but, I followed up the announcement in the 'Forum' section for some new MEP/VPX compatible plug-ins from Pixelan and am impressed. You can download free demos (watermarked) and try them out, even in older versions of MEP than the advertise '2013 or later'.
Most of the improvements appear to be 'under the hood' - there are two significant changes:
- auto proxy file generation generation for lower spec computers
- addition of Timecode options when the Title tab is selected - I know this has been the subject of several posts on the forum.
The one downside for MEP 2014 is the rendering/export is slightly slower than MEP 2013, depending on the video and format being exported, it takes 5 - 10% longer.
Effects - personally I use very few of the 'fancy' effects - I have seen too many videos where they have been overused or do not add anything to the story.
I would prefer to see some of the image adjustment tools improved eg the addition of a Barrel / Pincushion distortion correction.
