Magix Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus Chroma Key Issue

jak.willis wrote on 9/1/2014, 7:23 PM

I have been using the chroma key function a lot with Magix Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus and i am in the middle of trying to complete a project that is soon due to be done.

For some strange reason, everytime I decide to test-run what i've done in the video so far by either burning to DVD or exporting then burning the file to DVD, the effects that i made with the chroma key does not come out on the video. So everything that i have replaced a green screen background with, be it colours or different video footage, it does not show on the video when you export it. Does anyone know what the problem is and how i can resovle it as soon as possible?

Hi,

Hard to help without some solid details. I'd suggest you make a small, non-confidential project exhibiting the problem and use File > Backup > Copy project and media into a folder, zip it up and upload it somewhere so that we can see what you mean and maybe try to reproduce it.

As a second best, several screenshots might help.

You might also try resetting program settings.

And read this:

Where do I upload it to? And does that mean you can access the project?

I use Dropbox.

Yes, we could then run your project.

Okay, well I could have a go at that. The video just basically doesn't show anything that I have used the chroma key effect for. So when you view it on the project itself, the effects made are there but when you export to MPEG or burn to DVD etc, then they won't be there. So it's almost like the chroma key effect is not working properly.

Hi,

Did you check that MEP2013 has the latest patch? I think there was a patch earlier this year that may have taken care of some export/burning problems.

Did you try exporting as a Magix video and then importing the result into a new project? If not, try it to see if the chroma key effect works.

Did you try a small sample project with the effects to see if they work after export?

Still waiting for your project file.

Hi there,

How do you export as a Magix video? I only ever export to MPEG etc. Is it listed somewhere on the export menu?

Hi,

Go to File, Export, Movie as Magix video. It is on the list.

Latest patch is 12.0.4.2. Check under Help, About.

Hi again,

Well the problem seems to be resolved now. I tried re-producing the video in MPEG again and for some reason this time it worked. So I don't know exactly what was causing the problem but perhaps there's something dodgy going on in my version of the program. The only thing I changed in the settings before it suddenly started working was the "Anti-Flicker". I switched that off then re-produced the video and low and behold it worked.

I am looking in to upgrading to a newer version of the software soon anyway so hopefully that may get me away from all the problems I have with MEP 2013 Plus.
