MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2015 Plus Syncing Audio

Can MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2015 Plus sync audio from an external source to the video.

I have a Tascam  DR-60DmkII 4-Channel Portable audio  Recorder for DSLR recording 4 tracks of audio with 2 tracks  feeding my Cannon camcorder. I want to replace the 2 tracks of audio that is recorded to the camcorder with a mix of the 4 tracks that has been recorded to the DR60DMKII..  Will MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2015 Plus be able to do this with the music being in sync with the video. I want to keep the music in a wav format.

Thanks

Port

Since no-one else has answered your question, and with the caveat that I don't own MEP 2015, I'll offer one or two thoughts about this, based on my use of multiple audio sources for a multicam project using VPX5.  (Clearly, I understand your project is not multicam but the audio is, in effect, "multitrack").

First, in theory, at least, you should be able to do what you want.  BUT you do need to remember that the two audio recording sources, your Tascam recorder and your Canon camcorder, were not digitally synced at the time you made the recording.  Hence, depending how long the recording was and whether it was "continuous", there is a distinct possibility that sync between the Tascam audio and the camera audio will "drift" during playback/editing.  However, there is a facility within MEP (at least earlier versions and I'm pretty sure it is there in 2015) that will "align audio objects" to a given audio track.  Thus with your camera video in track 1 and your camera audio in track 2, your Tascam files (?presumably 2 x stereo?) in tracks 3 and 4, you would put the cursor above track 2, right click and choose the option to "Align audio objects to this track".  MEP will then endeavour to adjust the Tascam tracks to match the audio from the camera.  If this is not wholly successful (again, this is likely to be dependent upon the length of any continuous recording) you may need to look at using some additional software to synchronise the different audio files.  Personally, I use the (not exactly cheap) PluralEyes from Red Giant; I think the cheaper option of DualEyes from the same manufacturer may still be available.  In either case, "new" audio files are created, synchronised to match the camera audio for you to use in your project, in place of the original Tascam files.

So, you are attempting to synchronise 2 "external" (non-camera) stereo audio tracks.  This can be done, as above, but how are you proposing to "mix" these audio files to produce the final, stereo audio on your exported video?  Presumably, even if you do not want to use the camera audio in the final video, you are not going to want the 4 tracks from the Tascam to play at the same volume level all the way through?  If you export the video without any changes to these tracks, MEP will simply "mix" them down to produce a single stereo PCM (wav) soundtrack.  Unless, of course, your ultimate output intention is for multichannel audio?!!

Hi

Further to what Jeff has said:- If a progressive audio drift is present on a long take then you could, after syncing the start, use the timestretch function of MEP to align the end of the tracks. If the drift is only small then you could do this on either the sound track or the video track.

There should be plenty of flexibility to mix the tracks using either, the Mixer (M key) where you can distribute each stereo track to 6 speakers with panning etc., or the Track Curve or Volume Curve function.

I am a musician   shooting videos of my gigs, letting the camera run for about 3 hrs.

I am only looking for 1 min  clips of my performances .(many)

I am recording 3 tracks on the Tascam DR-60DMKII 4 track recorder from line outputs of my  Vocals, Guitar, and backing tracks  ( looper, tablet ,  ect)  .

An external mic will be plugged into the camera and A fourth track will come from the camera head phone out. I hope to use that track for  ambience and a sync track.

I plan on mixing in my DAW the 4 tracks to a stereo pair and then importing them into MEP ,  leaving the camera audio track as the track to line up with.( and replacing it with the mixed stereo audio track.)

My ultimate goal is a lot of short ( under 60 sec) video (and audio) clips with  a audio  mix of 4 tracks to stereo. I plan on also having a few complete songs ( 3 to 4 min ) .. I guess I should take them from the 1st ( 40min) set .

Thanks
