My phone only records on one channel so i have to make Both channels left but the recording of anything, YT, VLC player they're all recorded with very very low sound & if i change the levels box to Realtek from Speakers there's no sound at all, Thanks

Hi Gid.

You have selected to compress files in Windows on your C: drive to save hard drive space. MEP is saying it can't place files onto a drive that compresses files. The volume problem is in Windows as well. You need to go into the windows sound control panel and activate Stereo Mix in the record section.

Hi Gid.

Looking at the video I only saw you check the playback settings. Not the record.

As for the record levels. You will have to turn them up as much as needed or the resulting sound may be very noisy. I know the volume jumps up a lot as MEP has a very loud output compared to other programs in use but right click the windows volume control and when the master volume is turned up and MEP starts to record you should get a separate slider for MEP to control and pull down the volume from MEP.

I'm not sure why you chose to record the screen in the XMV format as the files are huge. If you have the disk space then that's fine but sometimes huge files can make for playback problems.

Hi thanks, in the levels box, in the recording drop down it's set at stereo mix, I didn't know you got a separate slider for MEP to control but that can't be turned up without turning the main speakers volume up, you can turn it down separately but not up more the speakers & I don't know if you meant MXV but there's only 2 options, MXV user defined & MXV full screen? the MXV full screen file size is not much of an issue, The YT vids I'm creating have 20-30 clips adding up to 20-30GB sometimes, Huawei P30 HD video clips can be quite big but i have an i7 3.6GB quad SSD pc which handles them no prob, edited & exported the final vid finishes roughly 3-5GB.i prefer to have the best file to start with so i can zoom if i want, then i can always reduce the size but enlarging reduces quality, Thanks a lot for your time, i plan on getting a sound card that'll be separate from the PC's sound system, I guess I'll have to works this out again, thanks again 👍😃

Hi.

Sorry yes I did mean MXV. As long as it's not giving playback issues and you are happy.

Using the Windows mixer with the master volume fully up should allow better recording volumes. The rest you can pull down to appropriate listening levels without interfering with the input record level in MEP. The source you are recording from should have that output slider in the windows mixer all the way up. It should bring your levels up unless whatever you are grabbing has really poor levels to begin with. The problem is until the source is playing you won't get a corresponding slider in the Windows mixer show up. At present your record levels look like they are around -80dbm or lower.

I think I've sussed it, The settings had to be as you suggested, the bit 'i missed' was I had to turn the volume down to 1 on my amplifier that is connected to the jack in the back of the PC so that i could turn the PC speakers sound up, & the warning msg about folder compressed, I thought it wasn't compressed when i looked at the C drive properties the 'Compress this drive to save disk space' wasn't ticked but on the file i was recording to, on C drive, the properties in the advanced box it was, i unticked that & the warning msg went away, Thanks again for running through this with me, it's always good to have another's input, I didn't know the warning msg ref to the compressed tick boxes, 😁

I guessed you must have a similar output setup to myself. The only problem with this solution is if you power down the computer then when you re-start you have to set up the Windows mixer all over again. However, just closing individual programs down and then opening them again (if you don't power off the PC) then Windows remembers its mixer settings. In one respect I wish MEP had a separate 'Control Room' mixer where you could set MEPs' output volume without upsetting export settings. It would save a lot of wear and tear on an amplifiers' physical volume control.

By the looks of the video you have it all sorted now though. Looks good.
