MAGIX Movie Edit Pro MX Keeps crashing on startup with no reason

I have been using MAGIX movie edit pro mx to edit youtube videos for almost a year now and all of a sudden recently it has just stopped working. I start it up, a little window pops up saying initialising stuff and then i get a windows error message saying the program has stopped working and is searching for a problem and then says its not responding and asks me to close the program. Please help as i have only recently become confident with this software and dont want to go through the hassle of learning how to use a different piece of software.

I have tried all you suggested Jeff and nothing has changed, it is still doing the same thing.

Having had something similar happen with the same, and other Magix programs, I would suggest trying a repair install.  To do this, if you have a DVD of the program, simply insert it into your DVD drive.  Auto play should start the install routine and after a short time you should receive a message to "uninstall" or "repair" the installation.  Choose the latter and see whether that enables you to then run the program as normal.

If your installation file is a download simply double-click it to "start" the installation and you will then get the options to "uninstall" or "repair" quite quickly.

If that doesn't help I think you need to completely uninstall and then reinstall the program.  There is a tool on the Magix web site which helps you in removing all traces of the program, a very necessary step before you reinstall but if you have other Magix programs you need to ensure the tool is removing only MEP MX.  My personal preference is to use Revo Uninstaller to remove the program (it's available free, simply google Revo Uninstaller).  One thing it is worth doing between the uninstall and the reinstall: reboot your computer.  This seems to ensure there are no files/data from the uninstalled program left in memory or in the page file.

HTH

Hi,

Are you saying you re-installed after removing all traces of the previous installation with Revo Uninstaller and rebooting your (unspecified) PC and still get the same error message on running MEP MX? Exactly what does the message(s) say?

Are you able to run all your other major programs OK? What is your OS? Have you methodically tried System Restores to dates before the problem arose? Or tried running System File Checker. Open the Run box, type sfc /scan now and press Enter.
