Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium running super slow.

corvette61 wrote on 2/26/2022, 12:12 PM

I'm using newly installed MEP Premium 2022, this program is so slow, I'm not a newcomer to Magix I also Have 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, they all play smooth video in the monitor no problems. With 2022 I've done everything possible Rendering, Proxy, all types of formats and conversions and still choppy playback, even when I add transitions it takes a few seconds to respond. My computer requirements are equal or above the requirements that Magix requires. I don't understand why my 7 year old software (2015) works perfectly and 2022 does not, the reason I upgraded was because I was using caveman software but in reality the caveman version is so much faster and better. If anyone is thinking about upgrading to 2022, "DON'T" unless you want to go crazy. Any solutions ?

@corvette61 Hi, you say 'my computer requirements are equal or above the requirements' so can you go to your icon at the top, click it - My Profile, & fill in your Signature with your Magix version, Windows version & system specs, CPU, GPU, RAM etc. this will then show at the bottom of the comments 👍

Hi Ray, and welcome to the user to user forums.

It's not unusual to find newer programs that have demanding workloads to run slower than their older counterparts on older systems. Those programs were designed to run on the older components. Newer programs are designed to take advantage of newer components and also are able to deal with higher resolutions alongside more demanding codecs and those differences mean they need more processing power, more memory, and faster drives. Regardless of the resolutions you work at. The minimum specs quoted are just to ensure the program runs but to reap the benefits as advertised it will need to use more up to date GPUs and multi-core processors.

When you say your computer requirements are equal or above the requirements that Magix requires also take note of the message at the top of those requirements that says

"Some advanced program features demand more of your computer's processing power. To get the most from these features, your system should at least meet the recommended requirements."

It would help if you were specific in your computers specification and we may then be able to help get a bit more performance out of your machine if that is possible.

Ray. (That's me too 👍)
