When trying to do a mask, tool is supposed to turn into a pen. Not for me

My settings are as follows for mask 1, although I have kinda toggled them on and off

Enable 1: checked

Type: curve

Edit mode: checked

Edit tool:add

Any body have any non derogatory ideas? 🤓
