Magix Music Maker Premium - Recorded pieces appearing but not playing

wjones1119 wrote on 9/19/2017, 8:14 PM

All,

I am using Music Maker Premium with the latest update as of 09/19/2017 and am experiencing a problem I do not know how to rectify. I'm using a Korg SP280 into a FocusRite 2i4 without difficulty and am able to record audio fine; when you click on the loop to access the MIDI Editor the notes all appear without problem. However, on the main screen, none of the notes are appearing and will not play.

My audio drivers are fine, and I've never had this problem before; I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any advice?

Marc

Hi

We need some clarification please:

. . . . I'm using a Korg SP280 into a FocusRite 2i4 without difficulty . . . . when you click on the loop to access the MIDI Editor the notes all appear without problem . . . .

As this stands, this is confusing, anything recorded through the Focusrite is an audio file not MIDI

  1. Using the Korg as a midi keyboard to play one of the Music Maker synthesizers?
  2. Feeding the Korg audio into one channel of the Focusrite and a mic into the other?

Thanks

John EB

John,

I'm sorry for the confusion; I am using the Korg as a MIDI keyboard to play Music Maker instruments and am recording natively within the program, not feeding the audio into a channel (though I wish I knew how to do that).

Thank you for your reply!

Hi Marcus,

What do you mean by "main screen?" Can you give us some screen shots? By not playing, do you mean that you hear nothing? Or the playback marker doesn't move.

Which instrument? Can you hear anything from MMM, like Soundpool loops? What are your playback settings?

With MMM, you can only record to one track at a time. For simultaneous multi-track recording, you need at least Magix Music Studio.

To record audio, use your FocusRite connected to the computer, set it as the audio source. Make sure to use an Asio driver and monitor with headphones. You can connect 2 sources to the FocusRite, like 2 mics or a mic and a guitar or audio out of a keyboard. They go to the left and right channels of one track. See my tutorial on getting started in MMM for more.

For any other users who may be experiencing this same issue, as this post hasn't been officially closed, this solution fixed my problem:

"I made some findings which help to "solve" the issue. It appears it is a bug in the software :
after realizing that notes were indeed recorded, I fidgeted with the "midi object" in the arranger, and when I changed its length TADA!, the notes appeared and could be heard !!

Perhaps this workaround will help others with the same problem."
