Hi Anirban

What setting did you use for the recording quality? This is the only value we cannot see from your image.

I have tried your setings for screen area, framerate and aspect ratio and have successfully captured the screen.

The only setting I changed was the recording quality as shown below

and the resulting video properties are

AFAICS the recording quality should not exceed the monitors resolution - if you set it to full screen then there should be no problem.

If you make multiple screen recordings in one session and get the error message 'the file cannot be read' :-

  • close MEP

  • using Windows Explorer browse to the folder where the recordings are and delete the mxrelatedcache.mxc2 and any H0 and HDP files.

  • restart MEP and then you should be able to load the recordings.

Hi Anirban

From the testing I have done the maximum screen resolution that MEP accepts is the same the monitor resolution is set to in Windows.

Just to confuse the issue this may not be the true resolution of the monitor.

Example:  with Windows set to a the native (true) monitor resolution of 1680 x 1050 (this is a 16:10 ratio monitor) I can set any resolution values for capture up to 1680 x 1048 - note: MEP will not let me set the vertical resolution to 1050.

If I change the Windows screen resolution to 1440 x 900 and try to use the 1650 x 1048 setting for capture I get the error message sayng the resolution is not supported - the maximum for capturing is now 1440 x 900.

Right click a blank area on your desktop and select Screen Resolution to find what Windows is set to.
