Magix video Editor Pro 2016 bug? Exporting video in HD 1 and HD 2

Hello,
My video created in Magix Video Editor Pro 2016, does not export correctly depending on the resolution I choose.
The part of the video which doesn't export correctly  shows a video clip in it's original size 640x480 overlayed on an image which is 1920x1080 - the same as the resolution of this video.
When viewing in Magix, everything looks fine (see attached image 1),
but when exporting as HD quality 1 (1280x720) the overlayed video becomes somehow half translucent (image 2).
Exporting the same video as HD quality 2 (1980x1080) the overlayed video disappears completely (image 3) and only the sound remains.

Does anybody know if there is way to fix this, or if it really is a bug in magix.

I presume you mean Magix Movie Edit Pro 2016.

I cannot reproduce this.

We need more information:

  1. Computer specification - processor make/model, audio chipset, RAM, hard drive size and free space
     
  2. Windows version and is it up to date?
     
  3. Movie Edit Pro version number - see under Help, About . . .
     
  4. Project settings - press the E key to get to them - a screenshot would be ideal
     
  5. Do you get any warning dialog that objects may change position?
     
  6. Does the same happen if you export the movie using File, Export movie, Video as MPEG-4 selecting the appropriate preset?

Also please read this post before replying.

Harddrive: 4.62GB FREE; 233GB USED

3) Movie Edit Pro version number: Version 15.0.0.73 (UDP3)

4) Project settings: I'll do that but I need my external hard drive to which I'll have access tonight: Not sure if this is relevant but all my data (videos, pics) are stored on an external hard drive - including the Magix project. To see if it makes a difference I also saved the project file (not the images, videos) on the internal harddrive of the PC, but the same issues happened when exporting.

Also I recall that I used Magix to blur a part of the small overlayed 640x480x video, following these instructions:
However I wasn't satisfied so I removed the effects.

Later, after encountering the export error, I also removed the overlayed 640x480 video and imported it again into Magix to see if my previous use of the blur effects could have caused the issue. But I still got the same export error even with the newly imported video.

The fact that your hard drive has so little free space could easily create issues with MEP, especially if the drive is also fragmented. With that little space Windows will probably be having trouble as well, if this is the drive Windows is on. Even if it is not the C:\ drive then the defragger may have trouble defragmenting it as it needs a certain amount of free space to do it's job.

Free up some space and then run the drefragger (not if it is an SSD) several times.

You are missing several patches for Movie Edit Pro 2016 (MEP 2016) - the last version is 15.0.0.107.

Update MEP 2016 and then try exporting again.

Is this a 256GB SSD drive? If so there is no need to defrag it - unlike hard drives, SSD drives are 'self correcting'.

The downside of having a small drive is that for HD video you are going to run out of free space quickly unless you remove the video off the drive to free up space for the next project.

If you do not have one I would recommend a USB hard drive 2TB minimum for backing up the video and projects.

I updated MEP2016 to the latest version, then deleted and re-imported the video, overlayed it again, exported in HD quality 1 and everything worked perfect:

So thanks again for your quick help! And the hard drive is unfortunately not a SSD. Well, it's just a bad configuration of a good performance laptop with a way too small hard drive. Anyway I freed more space now and use an external 2TB hard drive - exactly as John suggested - for all my videos and pics. It seems the fact that all the files are on the external drive doesn't really slows down MEP2016 too much.
