MEP 17 on Win. 7 64bit MEP14 on Win. XP choppy play back when exported only on some images

I have been using MEP 14 for many years for slideshows/movies with beautiful results reguardless of exporting for Window media or burn DVD.  I have a new machine and MEP 17.  All system requirements are better than minimum.  I started working a new slideshow with the XP machine, while watching playback in the Magix program playback is wonderful but when I exported to Win. media some images became choppy.  I tried the new machine and MEP17 and get the same results.  I use images from different cameras and scans and have never had this occur before.  I do have a new camera Panasonic Lumix 14.1 pix and it seems to be some of these still images are the ones that when exported start out of focus then jump to proper focus, very noticable in Win. player.  The playback in Magix is smooth and flawless.  I do not copy images into Magix,  I keep all my works on external devices.  I think this is a resolution problem but why on just some images, and what can I do to correct this problem.  I am not familiar with changing resolutions.

What is the original format of these pictures that are giving you this irregularity?

What formats (exports) have you tried through Movie Edit Pro?

I feel confident that it is not either computer that is an issue, but possibly the codec used to read the image. I unfortunately do not have this camera type so I have no way of testing it directly.

As a test, I recommend making a project that consists of just pictures from this Panasonic camera, export it and see if these irregularities are still found in finalized file.

Hi,

You mentioned that your system config is better than the minimum,  what exactly is it.  You also say that you have a new machine.  How new.  You mentioned Xp as your old machine, is your new machine Vista or Windows 7 32 or 64 bit? and How much RAM do you actually have on your new system?

Also, which Panasonic Lumix do you have, and as John asked, have you tested just images from the Panasonic camera?  Also, are you importing the pictures from your camera as JPEG or RAW files?

I am not trying to be difficult here, I just want to have enough information to give you a response that will not be a "guess" and send you off chasing something that has nothing to do with the problem.  My initial reaction is that there is something going on with the Panasonic camera but with out the model information, that is hard to say.

Good Luck,

George

Hi

I suspect the Panasonic images are recorded using Progressive encoding which means the image structure is such that it develops detail as more of the file is loaded.

The only way to prove is to use image editing software to convert the image to either a Standard Encoded jpg or to another format eg png or bmp

Thanks to all for responding.  The camera Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS8.  The new computer is Win 7 64 bit i7 8gb ram nvidia Geforce with Cuda.  The pictures are just like any others when viewing or editing them (if necessary), whether in Magix or in other programs.  So far I have only exporedt as Winows media.  I will take a closer look to see if ones I have edited are different than ones I haven't.  I will experiment with all three answers and let you know of the results.
