MEP 2013 Plus is missing Video_ts.vob file following encoding of DVD content

hanny-remy wrote on 10/30/2013, 6:51 AM

Thinking my old downloaded (2011) "Magix  Video deluxe mx plus" might not work on the new computer with Windows 8 I ordered MEP 2013 Plus. In the past when I needed to burn several DVD's of a project I would just make a DVD content and then burn this with Nero. However, when doing the same thing now I find that the DVD file structure encoded with MEP 2013 Plus is missing the Video_ts.vob file. My work around was to export the entire project to an mp4 file, use this as input in my old Pinnacle Studio 14 and then make a proper DVD content. Short of going back to my old " Magix Video deluxe mx plus" which apparently seems to work on Windows 8 after all, there should be a way to properly do this with MEP 2013. A fault in the system? I also updated Windows 8 to 8.1, did a repair of MEP 2013 (in order to be able to activate the H264 and peg2 codecs again), and then did an online update of MEP 2013 in the hope that this was a bug that was fixed in the mean time, but alas still the same problem.

Computer : Medion, CPU: Intel i7-3770, 3.4 GHz, 4 GB ram, OS: Windows 8 (64 bit)

Any one encountered this? Any ideas ?

Thanks, Hanny

Hi Hanny,

I can't reproduce that.

One possibility: are you sure you have this enabled?

Thanks for your answer. No, this is not enabled as I did/do not have multiple films. Only one film with several chapters. Curious that you can not reporduce this. I can not image why this then happens. Having had a previous version of the program I am quite familiar with it and I do exactly the same as before (which then worked fine).

Maybe you can think of something else ?

No, this is not enabled as I did/do not have multiple films. Only one film with several chapters.

If you don't have that enabled then you won't get a VIDEO_TS.VOB in your file structure.

But why is its absence a problem in your case? Your DVD should simply present the chapter menu, from which you can start playing, as you've declined to use a main menu.

To satisfy yourself how MEP behaves try burning a single clip project with and without Film Menu enabled.

Hi

. . . . No, this is not enabled as I did/do not have multiple films. . . .

You must have it enabled if you want the menu system - whether you have one film or multiple films.

Without this file you should not get a menu system or chapter menu at all - the video will just play automatically - chapters will still work but there should be no menu for them.

John
