MEP 2014 editing questions

Hello. I am used to a completly different interface of Pinnacle Studio. I do have A few editing questions conserning MEP 2014, that I need your experienced help with .

1.  When adding new files to the right  of current files in the timeline, how do I get each file to "auto snap" to the end of the current file, with no gap?

2. In timeline, when I cut out a section, Are there options to "delete and leave blank", as well as "delete and fill gap"?  How would I perform each fo these task?

3. "Grouping" seems to be the correct way to keep all timeline files (on all tracks) together and moving to the left together?  Basically, after I sync a few tracks with sound, I do want to keep the entire project in tact, when I edit, and not loose sound sync.

4. Can I trim or cut a file, in the media pool, before I ad it to the timeline?

Thanks.

Randy,

Very briefly...

1. Varies with program version. in MEP 2013 & 2014 at least use the { } icon that appears when you hover over an object. have you had a look in the pdf manual that comes with your program? Search for 'snap'.

2. [Delete] key deletes the selected object(s). [Ctrl]+[Delete] deletes and closes the gap by moving adjacent objects to the left.

3. Grouping is the way to way to lock once you are satisfied with an arrangement. You can also lock individual tracks (padlock icon).See also the 'mouse modes' which let you work on individual objects, objects on the same timeline, or all objects.

4. See 'Trim' in the pdf manual.

Regards,

Carl

Thanks. I have now purchased the software and registered it.  But For catooh , I received a key, but was not asked for that when I clicked the catooh button at top right, and was taken to their website. It only asked me to create a login. How/where do I enter the key? And what does that get me?
