MEP 2014 on Win 8.1?

I'm trying to install MEP 2014 on my Win 8.1 machine from disc. It gets to Creating instaltion script and just hangs. I eventually eject the disc and Cancel the request for me yo put it back in and get an "unknown" error message accessing MxSetupRes.dll (probably because I've ejected the disc).

The disc looks undamaged.

Is this a known issue with Win 8? I can be sure I've ever install 2014 on Win 8.1 - I had it on a Win 7 laptop before.

Hi

MEP 2014 installs correctly on Win 8.1.

When the software hangs is the DVD drive light constantly on?

What is your computer specification?

. . . . The disc looks undamaged. . . . .

There is no way of visually telling If a disc is bad except of course for obvious scratches, however you would be surprised how much damage ie scratch wise, a disc can take before it becomes unreadable.

You can try copying the entire contents of the DVD to a folder on the hard drive and then run the installer from there.

If it does not copy then the disc or DVD drive is bad.  .
