MEP 2015 Red Marker Stopped Moving In The Timeline When Viewing A Clip

corvette61 wrote on 3/24/2022, 11:03 AM

Magix Movie Edit Pro 2015 Premium, I was using the program yesterday and it worked fine, went back this morning and booted up the program and the red marker in the timeline wasn't moving and the time did not change in the box in the left top corner of the screen, this happened a few years ago and I fixed it but I can't remember what I did, I also have MEP 2014, 2016,2017 and 2022 and they all work great. Does anyone have a solution for this problem ? I've tried resetting (F9) Rebooting and reset movie & program settings to default but still doesn't work.

Thanks

Ray

Hi Ray.

How it behaves now is the only recollection I have of the timeline cursor behaving. I have only had the program since the 2018 version.

The playback main cursor stays where it is on the timeline but a slightly thinner one moves away from it. When pressing stop, the main timeline marker stops at the new position and pressing play then repeats the last behaviour.

The monitor triangle meanwhile moves with the secondary timeline position.

The top right hand corner of the monitor view gives the total time of the area selected between the range markers.

The top left hand side of the monitor view gives the time position of where the playback marker is within the whole project length. Both also show the subdivision of frames after seconds.

Ray.

Thank you for the above information, unfortunately I already understand the workings of these MEP programs, I have used them since 2005, what I need is to figure out why the cursor remains stationary and doesn't move, worked yesterday but not today.

Thanks again

@corvette61

Hi,

Sounds like a corrupt project file or something. Try select all, copy and paste to a new movie (within the same project). Press play. Does it work? If so, then delete the bad movie. This has happened to me in the past.

Hi John.

Not sure you have understood the question posed here.

Even in your own video tutorials the main playback cursor stays at its start position while the secondary cursor without the triangle on top moves.

Ray is after the main cursor moving during playback.

Ray.

Thank you for your response, yes I understood, I checked my last MS update and found the update failed to install, so I manually installed the update and the update solved the problem, sometimes when updates fails to install it messes up other things on the computer. Thanks again
