MEP 2015 - the menu isnt very sharp, bit distorted

when i have made my dvd, and play back on tv the menu isnt very sharp and a bit distorted

it looks great in the program but when i burn to dvd the menu is terrible

i have tried the HD menus and The SD menus, even made menu myself

they are not video menus just static menus...any idea

i am using the new movie edit pro 2015, i think it was the same on my old MEP MX18 too

Hi

This is a common issue with DVD if you are viewing them on a HD TV.

When doing this you are dependent on the upscaler in the player - the better the player the better the upscaler (usually).

The font used in the DVD menu can also affect how the text looks - avoid using Italic style fonts, use a plain font such as Arial helps.

One option you can try is to up the bitrate in the burn settings to the maximum that will allow the movie to fill the disc as shown below

 

MEP will complain if you set this too high and the movie cannot be fitted on the disc and will ask you to adjust - click the auto adjust button.
