MEP 2016 bug: content of movies changes erratically

terrypin wrote on 7/10/2017, 1:28 AM

In the following thread a few months ago I described a minor bug that causes the position of movie tabs to get changed when restoring a backup. https://www.magix.info/uk/forum/mep-2016-bug-backups-reverse-movie-sequence--1185244/

It's no big deal (unless you have more than say two or three movies in your project) because the positions can quickly be changed back to what they were originally.

But a more serious consequence is beginning to annoy me: after doing this, at apparently random times later the contents of those tabs suddenly changes!

In the project below I originally set up a 'main' movie and another called 'Work' which usually has just a few objects in it. (Handy for working on effects, especially collages.) At some time, a few days ago, after a crash, I accepted the offer from MEP 2016 Premium to restore from a backup MV_ instead of the MVP I'd been working on. The positions were reversed and I promptly changed them back, so that my main USA tab with a full timeline was again on the left.

But every now and again I'll find that the names are in the right place but their content is wrong. Or you could alternatively say that their names have now changed.

I'm guessing it's true of MEPP too although I haven't tested it yet.

I'll raise a ticketed bug report.

Hi Terry

. . . . I'm guessing it's true of MEPP too although I haven't tested it yet. . . . .

Confirmed - it is still the same.

Here's the reply I received from Magix support to my ticketed support email of 10/7/17, which simply referenced this thread (and hence its earlier post on the basic issue):

I have tested the issue today without actually being able to reproduce it.
Please give me some time till Monday in order to make one further attempt
