MEP Premium 2017 strange issue

Hi again people. I had just completed a new project tonight which had two audio tracks, an instrumental backing track wav file and an isolated vocal track from a different song. For some reason later on during my editing, once the red playback marker got to the waveforms of the vocal section in yellow (and this happened even before I'd cut that section) the vocal was silent until it got to the next section, 47 seconds in. And my exported mp4 was also missing the first 47 seconds. Only the wav file was playing from the start. Screenshot:

But when I placed the marker a little way inside the yellow box, then the vocals played from the start. What I did in the end was cut the first 9 seconds of the earth wind and fire wav and found a new place to start the music where the marker was already inside the yellow box, then it worked. But it meant losing a few bars of the intro music I wanted. Any reason for this behaviour? All I had done to the vocal track was increase the tempo by 5 bpm and adjust the volume level using the slider in the centre of the track.

Until the audio experts take a look I'll guess that MEP is treating your yellow track 3 object as an MP4 video, despite its content being stripped to audio only. And therefore applying the normal rules about layers.

@Merlin55

Hi

Looking at the file names of the proxy audio files there is something not quite right about them - I cannot create any with the name structure of those on the timeline in the image, mine all end in the word proxy or the file format ie .WAV as shown in the examples below

Try the following:

  1. reload the original video
  2. right click it the video, select Audio functions, Restore original sound
  3. unlink the video and audio
  4. delete the video
  5. edit the original sound as you require

Thanks John. Did what you suggested but when I increased the tempo again with the Timestretch/Resample function it went silent again. Also, the 'TS' then appears after doing the timestretch, so that's obviously what it stands for. Any increment below or above the default 120 bpm seems to adds TS to the name structure. I don't even know why it says 120 bpm, because the music I'm playing is faster than that.

Check the mixer to see if you have accidently muted that track up to that point. It's all I can think of at present as I can't reproduce your problem. The mixer controls can be automated to do things like pan or alter volumes which I don't know if you know or not. If the offending track is showing volume at the start of the clip then it should be playing in the mixdown. If it's not showing then right click the audio clip and select 'show curves' and see if it shows the volume at 0dbm.
