MEP Premium 2021 - update file location?

MikaS wrote on 2/5/2022, 10:28 AM

I bought this MEP-version about 10 months ago, with updates for one year. My current version is 21.0.1.119. From my previous experience I know that if I ever have to reinstall MEP after my one year subcription has expired, I would only get the original version I bought 10 months ago, and not any of the updates that came after that.

I have a vague memory that someone here told that there is a Temp-folder or something, that has the most recent update as an exe-file. And that I could copy and save that exe-file, and then use it, if I had to reinstall MEP. So my question is: is that true, and where would I find this exe-file?

While the update is taking place, the installer is located in the Windows temp folder as defined by the %temp% variable.

The trick is copying this installer before the update has completed. The installer file is deleted once the MEP update has completed, so it’s very unlikely the file is still there. I don't even think it ends up in the recycle bin.

I have managed to copy the MEP 2022 updater installer executables using this method.

The most recent MEP 2022 Premium updater filename is “Vdlx2022_Premium_Update_21.0.1.119.exe”

@MikaS

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.
