MEP17 vs. MEP18

CarpentersMate wrote on 4/19/2019, 1:27 PM

Hi Gang

I ordered a (non registered) version of MEP17. However when I read the reviews it appears people were having trouble 'saving data' - there were very few positive reviews. I haven't recieved it yet and I may decide not to use it. Instead I ordered a brand new copy of MEP18 and should get it today. The reviews were almost all POSITIVE for MEP18. However I did read some issues here about a needed patch? In any event do you guys have a positive consenus that MEP18 could be a more stable edition than 17?

For Magix: Running Windows 10 Professional 64 bit - Dell Precision Workstation 3620 - i7 7700K 4.20 GHz Processor - 32GB Memory - (onboard video), Asus PCI Sound Card - iGPU - Two Twin esata 2TB External Drives. And for other software: Two Mac Pro Desktops with PCI & PCIe Soundcards & nVidia GeForce Graphics Cards - Mimimum memory of 16GB with #10 2TB esata Twin External Drives.

Version 18 is the latest available (actual current release version is 18.0.2.235).

Most of my video work is now done in VPX but, speaking personally, I did not find MEP version 17 to be at all a problem to work with.

@CarpentersMate

Hi

. . . . MEP18 . . .

Please be very specific about which version you are getting, do you mean MEP 18, also known as MEP 18 MX and MEP MX, or do you mean MEP 2018?

. . . . However when I read the reviews it appears people were having trouble 'saving data' - there were very few positive reviews . . .

I do not know what reviews you were reading, however from my own real experience MEP 17 had very few issues as @emmrecs has also stated above.

On a practical level have you had any issues with MEP 17 not saving the project files correctly, or any other issue which prevents you producing video for your website?

Hi John - The description reads: MAGIX Movie Edit Pro - 2018 Plus - Editing Software. I just bought it off Amazon. And in answer to your question: I have not recieved version 17 yet? BTW The reviews were higher for version 18 compared to version 17. Thank You 🙂
