MEP17: While exporting a file - error message "memory allocation failed", and I have more than enough room on my hard drive.

I am exporting a lfile in HD2, MPEG4 and keep getting a prompt "memory allocation failed" when I have more than enough room on my harddrive.  What is causing this issue?  See below 1. the prompt and 2. my harddrive space.  I do not understand what would cause the memory allocation issue.

Hi,

I don't remember getting these with MEP 17 but they crop up with annoying frequency in MEP 2014. They're not a reflection of limited hard drive capacity, but of RAM availability. If you check Task Manager at the time this occurs you'll probably find you're using a relatively high proportion of your computer's total.

Apart from ensuring that you have no other resource hungry programs running, one thing you can try before the export is Edit > Empty cache and Undo. if that fails, close and restart MEP and try again.

Hi

Good advice there from Terry.

This is a notice that the program or some .dll (in a plugin maybe) is trying to access RAM that Windows needs for the Operating System. Make sure you have at least 4GB of RAM (Max for 32Bit OS) in your PC and that your Virtual Memory is set up to 2 x your RAM size, or is set to let Windows dynamically manage VM ( aka Pagefile or Swapfile).

If you have used external plugin effects like New Blue or Prodad in your movie, try removing them.

Terry and SS.

Thank you for response.

I have emptied cache.

I have 4GB of RAM.  Working on deleting some of my programs which seem to steal RAM.

Will let you know how thing progress.

Thank you again.
