MEP2014 Plus surround sound not working with MPEG4 export or Blue Ray and AVCHD disc

Hello all,

I am new to this forum, and hopefully my problem is an easy fix.

What is happening is, I have source files with 5.1 surround sound, I import the file into MEP 2014 plus and can extract the sound files to show them as 5.1 in the mixer and on the timeline.

When I try to export as an MP4 AC3 stereo is selected, I then go into the advanced settings and select 5.1 surround.  I run the export and the resulting file shows as 2 channel stereo.  This same thing happens when trying to create a Blue Ray or AVCHD disc.

I have also tried exporting in different formats, and if I export the file as a MPG or WMV with surround, it works fine.

I have an open ticket with MAGIX support, but thought I would try here just in case someone might know of a fix for this.

MAGIX support has said that I have activated the surround module, but I do not remember it popping up for activation.  Is there somewhere I can check to see if that module is loaded?  Either in the program or by looking for a file name on the PC?

Thank you,

Eric

Hi

. . . . I run the export and the resulting file shows as 2 channel stereo. . . .

What is showing the file as 2 channel stereo?

2 channel stereo is listed under file details in Windows 7, and also via my Sony receiver.  And if I import the file back into MEP 2014 plus is only shows the 2 channels.

I would also like to add that the support staff from Magix has been very helpful,

Thanks,

Eric

Hi

I can replicate this after jumping through several hoops ie

1.  Programs settings, Playback tab, setting Direct Sound, and enabling Automatic 5.1 SS speaker configuration.

2.  Mixer, enable 5.1 SS

3. Export pane, Advanced, select Surround sound

4.  Download expansion package. Nothing appears to download!!

5.  Successful export

Windows 7 then says exported file is 2 channel stereo.  Import file into MEP 2014 extract channels shows three channels only top channel has sound.

Works OK in MEP 2013, so I think this is a bug.

I suspect either the automatic switching is not taking place or the expansion package is not being installed correctly.

Thanks for the effort you have put forward, I will try to reference this post with the Magix support staff.

Hopefully this can be corrected, as I really like the program.  I have tried several other programs as trials and this one was by far the best for me.

Thanks again,

Eric

Here is an update on the current issue I am having with MEP 2014 plus;

As of Monday 11/4, the support staff contacted me and stated that they were able to recreate the issues I have been having.  They are in the process of creating a patch or some other fix.  When I find out more I will post again, as this might be a problem for other users of MEP 2014 plus.
