MEP2018 Plus/Premium - where are own transitions and effects?

browj2 wrote on 11/8/2017, 8:51 AM

MEP2018 Plus - 17.0.1.141

Apparently, saving a transition proposes the following folder:

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Plus\2018\Plugins\TransitionPresets

The reply from Magix was to navigate to this folder using the Import tab and load it from there.

I thought that in the previous version of MEP, this showed up under Fades somewhere when saving to the above subfolder, but I see that it doesn't. Your own transitions have to be put somewhere else, like under:

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Plus\2018\Plugins\MoveTransitions

and they will show up under Templates/Transitions/Transitions Basic.

On the French side, Panagix has produced a method to personalize MEP by adding in tiles, amongst other things. Take a look at the pdf.

https://www.magix.info/us/tutorials/personnalisation-de-vido-deluxe--1197612/

If there is interest, I will make an attempt to translate this to English, but only the pdf, not the install files that he includes.

My only worry is that a new version comes out and supersedes or wipes this work.

As for saving own effects, I haven't looked at this yet. At least for Titles, Magix added in Templates/Title templates/My Own with the latest patch.

Hi John CB

Did you previously have MEP 2017 installed?

If not it looks like the same 'issue' as with MMM2018 - depending on the route you took to get to 2018 you get different folder locations (ignoring the different version ie Plus and Premium) - eg your folders (in italics)

  • C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Plus\2018\Plugins\TransitionPresets

    is

    C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\2017\Plugins\TransitionPresets

    on mine and is empty!

  • C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Plus\2018\Plugins\MoveTransitions

    is

    C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\2017\Plugins\MoveTransitions

on mine and contains the appropriate transitions.

Hi John EB,

I did not have 2017, only 2016.

When you try to save a transition, the program will propose the TransitionPresets folder by default, so if you don't know how it works, your transition will not show up under any existing tile. You have to place it elsewhere, or follow the tutorial by Panagix and create a tile for your own transitions.

Yes, MoveTransitions contains all of the appropriate transitions, including the one that I added to test this out.

Hi John CB

. . . . so if you don't know how it works, your transition will not show up under any existing tile. You have to place it elsewhere . . . .

This is a common issue when creating your own transition, movement presets, collages, DVD/BD menu presets etc and getting it to appear with the correct name and icon/text in the appropriate place.

Terry did an example of adding your own Collage to MEP here - as you can see many of the principals are similar to the customisation tutorial you linked to (my French is good enough to understand what the steps are 😨), the same is also true for custom DVD/BD menus.

Cheers
