MEP2018 Prem - 3D-stereo viewport views washed out?

mindsong wrote on 8/5/2018, 5:42 AM

HI,

I just upgraded to MEP 2018 Prem (all patches, etc.) - curious if others are seeing this: Regardless the 3D-stereo source media (raw, no effects, etc.), when I enable any of the stereo view options (upper left pulldown menu in the viewport window - e.g. anaglyph, S-by-S, etc.), the resulting viewport scene is very washed out/desaturated. Setting back to "Standard 2D" returns to proper/expected scene coloration.

Changes to proxy settings (enable/disable, etc.), didn't make a difference, nor did changes to HW playback settings.

3D anaglyph video exports seem to render properly (didn't test others), so it looks like a viewport/rendering issue.

Same machine w VP-X(9) viewport shows the same 3D-Stereo variations working properly w same settings, so I don't think it's my HW setup.

(Edit to add:) I don't believe you have to even be using 3D-stereo media/content to see the effect. Just load a clip and set viewport to a 3D-stereo setting. A 2D source may not look 'correct' in a 3D view, but will probably show the washed out effect...

thanks in advance,

mindsong

@mindsong

Hi

Works OK here - what settings are you using for the Display options tab, Video mode?

I am using Standard mode (Direct 3D hardware accelerated) with the integrated Intel GPU.

Solved: uncheck the "Output to monitors with high bit depth' option in the "program settings->display options->preview in arranger section".

Thanks for the response John,

I was also using 'Standard' mode (Nvidia HW), but had also somehow set the 'Output to monitors with high bit depth' checkbox. Apparently that doesn't do much with normal previewing (I hadn't noticed anything different), but matters with the 3D-stereo previewing modes. After resetting (unchecking) that option, the preview monitor results returned to the behavior I expected. Problem resolved!

thank you for your time.
