is a version of Mercalli v5 included in the latest update of video pro x,I have upgraded and can not find it, promotional web page seems to imply it is part of the upgrade.
If you read this thread you will see there are a number of us making the same or a similar comment!
As of now, it seems the new version of Mercalli is NOT included, which is something of an extreme irritation, especially since the new version of VPX has, for me at least, also rendered the previously-functioning Mercalli V4 as "locked", and the serial number which I have for it is now declared to be "invalid".
Thanks for your reply,I have exactly the same problems, when I opened the updated version a locked version of V5 was there, even stabalised a clip, next time i opened the programme V5 was gone
I got confirmation from Magix that you only get Mercalli 5 if you pay for the upgrade or extend the upgrade service now(also paid). They admitted the marketing is confusing, which it indeed is.
Want you get when you pay is what is available in the way of third party software/plugins. New third party offerings are not included in the Update Service. So, what you got was probably NB Titler Pro 6 and Erazr, neither of which are included in the current offering. Can you confirm that you got these?
When you suspect that a new version is coming out, usually a year after the previous one, you may want to wait to see what is offered along with the main program. In fact, you may want to wait until the first or second patch of a new version has come out.
That said, it would be nice to know in advance which third party stuff will be included to better be able to make a decision about timing the payment. Of course, that is unlikely to happen.
Actually, the Update Service is only slightly different from what used to happen. You had to pay for a new version no matter when you bought the previous version. However, if you time it right, you get the current version (with its third party offerings) followed by the new version when it comes out. If you don't want to pay every year, then don't. Wait until well after the next version comes out before renewing.
I paid for version 10, got version 11 and its updates. If there is nothing that I really want or need in v12, I'll wait until after the next version comes out a year from now....unless I have to reinstall, in which case I would want to at least get back to what I had at the end of the period so I would pay up. That is my risk.
Thanks for your help, wrongly assumed that the update future proofed everything, so I wasted my money on the upgrade service, still think Magix could have made things much clearer, one customer lost with a very bitter taste in mouth, I am sure I am not the only one.
You should have read the details of the Update Service available on Magix.com.
You will still get some new features over the course of the next year, usually September, November, and March which you would not get without the Update Service.
one way or the other the new version is unusable, crashes all the time and will not render anything, the old version worked perfectly, had to use De Vinchi resolve to finish a project that I needed

Their info seems clear enough to me, it is included in the update History page, Stay ahead, all year long: We'll continue to optimize and develop software that includes the Update Service and add new free features and extras. So when you use our software, you're always working with state-of-the-art technology. If a new version of our software is released within a year, you'll receive it for free! Benefit from free features and extras for a full year. To keep up-to-date after the Update Service has expired, you can extend it for a discounted price. If something is omitted why not tell customers and add a list of items omitted, their page is misleading and untrue
Note that "our software" does not include third party software. We have debated this before on the forum and further debate is a waste of time. Again, third party software is only included in the version that you pay for when you pay. When you pay is important. Magix does not give you today's third party software AND future third party software. You only get what is available when you pay, period.
Thanks 150 Euros wasted, will never buy a Magix product again , or recommend to anyone, misleading page and only clarified when money is paid, shoddy service
You can email Magix and ask for a refund. Cite the fact you are finding it unusable because of the problems you are facing and they will tell you to uninstall the program and deactivate the program from your account (and possibly deactivate your account) and they will reimburse your bank account.
Thanks for that will consider, was happy with v 11 and all previous before that, v 12 so much not working, crashes when rendering no matter what settings used, more bugs than a bee hive, tried getting back to v 11, but v 12 loads
It's often not a good idea to be an early adopter of new software. You should only really upgrade or update if you need a new function that you don't at present have and can't work without.. Otherwise I find it's best to wait.
See the other thread about V12 with new features and old bugs. Crashing is listed as a new bug but it would help show it to Magix if one is able to consistently repeat the problem and clearly demonstrate it (in the other thread, please, not here).
Ray's comment goes for all software. Always wait before updating/upgrading to see if others have problems, especially if you only have the software on one computer and are working on important projects.
There are some furious Germans and French users, but many others who have not had problems. Why some have problems is what we would like to know.
