Microphone recording stops after a few seconds

Why does a microphone recording (or others) cut off and stop prematurely during recording session?

I finally figured out that you can set a record range using the blue bar above the 1st track. 

Recording will then stop after it reaches the end of range that you have set.

To record more than the range setting do not set a range at all - to remove a range double click the blue bar.

Recording will then continue for as long as you have free disc space.

Thanks John,

It took me a while (years actually, to be honest), to figure out that my recordings were being stopped by the range settings. Great tip on simply removing the range bar from the equation.
