Trying to move product purchased January this year [Movie Edit Pro 2021 Plus] to new computer. Entered serial number and email address and got message: "The serial number is invalid or may apply to another product..... Error code: -14"
Error Code 14 indicates that your serial No. is still registered, you need to go to your account and de-register your serial No. then you should be able to register on your new computer.
Unfortunately, @Robert-Jeffree's suggestion is not correct, sorry. Error code 14 means that you are attempting to enter the correct code for a Magix product into the registration screen for a different product (see this Magix Support page).
Exactly how this has happened for you I am not sure - did you, perhaps purchase other software at the same time as you purchased MEP 2021 Plus? If so, have you accidentally entered the registration number for that product?
However, the suggestion to go your Magix account, log in, go to My Products, find the listing for MEP and check the serial number is a very good one. Whilst there you can also choose to deactivate the installation on your old computer.
And to add to @emmrecs comment, while logged into your magix account for checking the serial number, you will also find there a link to download the correct product to the serial number.
Thanks for the suggestions but so far no good. The S/N listed on my account is the same as what I have in my records but I still get error -14. Looks like I wasted my money on this product.
. . . . The S/N listed on my account is the same as what I have in my records but I still get error -14. . . . .
However the message indicates that either the program you have installed and are trying to activate is not the version you purchased, eg you have installed an older version and are trying to use the MEP 2021 serial or you have made a typo in entering the serial number - try copy and pasting the serial number, includingthe p3- part and the hyphens, into the activation dialog.
Does the program let you run it in trial mode? - If so then what is the version number as found under Help, About?
If not using Windows File Explorer - browse to the folder
C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro xxxxx\nnnn
where xxxxx = Nothing, Plus or Premium and nnnn is a year
locate videodeluxe.exe right click it and select Properties, in the Details tab of the popup that opened what is the Product version number of the file?
Problem appears to be solved, looks like it was my bad after all. I apparently installed an old version rather than 2021. Suspecting this, I downloaded the correct program, installed it, and registered.
Thanks to all who submitted comments, you gave the clues I needed to complete the installation.
The easiest way to ensure using a matching S/N with correct version of SW is to login to ones account and download the product from there and then apply the S/N bound to the program. Magix ensures your program and S/N are compatible with each other this way.
The only drawback is that the version listed is the original version and you could miss out program updates if your subscription is not current.
But then you get a discounted price to align the outdated version with the current if needed. (Not that it was the case here)
