I've been using MEP 14 for over a year and have found it extremely stable. I've not upgraded to MEP 15 because it seems like it has numerous issues.
I have no idea if Magix will cooperate, but you might try emailing their sales people and asking if they will provide you with MEP 14. If you go to support.magix.net, you'll see "Contact Us" on the left. Tell them exactly what is going on and if they can't get a fix for you, perhaps provide MEP 14.
I installed the trial version of MEP 15 a while back and other than screen colors and some differences in the layout, it seemed to be the same program. Given the problems and the fact that I didn't see much different, I decided to stay with MEP 14 for now.
mine does too. my config is now 4gb of memory. i have 37gb free disk space. i have intel core duo running at 2.2ghz windows is service pack 3. my video is on board but is directx 9.0 compatible.
well I think the new Movie Edit is a major improvement, just open up the effects panel and you will see a MAJOR difference. To me this alone was worth the upgrade. At last some decent colour correction and effects editing capabilities on MEP!
I have seen this issue where it keeps on crashing, but not telling anyone when and where is crashes wont really help the situation. If there is something wrong with the software then we have to report these faults as best we can to assure a patch will be released by MAGIX to fix the issues. If you think going out to get another editor will fix it, it wont, all video editos are plagues by numerous small issues related to codecs, formats etc. Show me one editor that doesnt crash at some point ( I am not referring to Pro video editors). Another video editor is simply gonna give you other problems.
Anyways I think it might be an easy fix, once the software opens up you should select the Help menu and Reset Program Defaults. Sounds to me like the Edit screen might be to blame. If you think about it it makes sense that there could be a problem with this as this has also been re-designed.
As I said this happened to me everytime I clicked on Edit. And the fix above did the trick for me. Tell us if it worked for you, and include as much detail as possible.
