Hi Graham. Welcome to the user to user forums.

MEP 2013 was designed to work with Windows XP and is not fully compatible with Windows 10.

I don't think there is any way around this except to force a shutdown via the task manager which is not ideal and may result in corrupt projects.

Trying to upgrade to a new version may not work either if it is running on an older PC as the system requirements have changed a lot.
