Movie Edit Pro 2015 doesnt recognise Canon DV camcorder

Hi, I've recently received Movie Edit Pro 2015 as a prsent from my very excited husband :-) However when I try to uploaad from my Canon MV730i I get the error message "cannot connect to selected device. The firewire is fine, (I can upload to dropbox) but it doesnt show up on "devices" in the control panel either

What version of Windows are you using?

Which version of MEP 2015 are you using Basic, Plus, or Premium?

Which options are you selecting in MEP to transfer from the camera?
