Movie Edit Pro 2015 Plus recording sync issues

Telebender57 wrote on 4/12/2015, 8:03 AM

Cannot get audio and video to record realtime in sync. Video always plays a period before audio.

Toshiba laptop with Win 8.1, 6G ram.

Logitech c615 HD Webcam connected to USB.

Focusrite Scarlett 6l6 digital audio interface to another USB.

Scarlett records fine into a couple other DAWs. It records into Magix, but with anomalies such as clicks, stutters, etc.

Webcam appears smooth while monitoring recording, but stutters and skips on playback, and always plays back before audio.

I have tried many settings and tips and tricks. None of the tutorials seem to address a linear, realtime recording into Magix using a USB Webcam and an external digital audio interface. They all seem more focused on "importing".

I have set audio to stereo 16 bit, 48kHz.

It does record both...but can never get either to play back glitch-free. I have used the "lightning" button to lower playback qualities while working...but once out-of-sync...it seems to stay out-of-sync.

I have turned off unnecessary programs and tasks in computer (networking, virus, etc.)

Nothing seems to help.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thank you,

Telebender

@Telebender: Does this happen with short recordings or long recordings? On long recordings, does it get worse with time?

iFletcher,

Thanks. It happens all the time. Short. Long. it doesn't matter.  It is never synced from the beginning, and it seems consistent in its time lag. Video starts...then sound.

I am just trying a simple single guitar practice performance into Line6 POD, stereo (analog) out of that into Focusrite Scarlett 6l6, into computer via USB 2.0. And, the webcam via another USB.

I got this to maybe drop a backing track of drums that I have created via MIDI and rendered as a stereo audio track in, and video myself playing guitar, bass, keys, banjo, harmonica...whatever along with it,

I can't even get one single track to play in sync, recorded real time. I'm not even sure if this software allows it...as all the info I find refers only to "importing" existing stuff, and manipulating after the fact, by editing. I wish to edit...but I have to get it in, in sync, first.

Additionally, none of the various combinations of settings and tweaks I have applied have allowed this play back jitter/skip/stutter/drop-out free in either audio OR video. So, I can't try to "line them up" afterwards...even if I wanted to. It's all garbage recordings.

This Toshiba laptop should be able to handle this. It handles may tracks of audio recording with absolutely no problem.

This is extremely frustrating. My day job for years has been working on computers (built and learned tweaks for music computer from many years ago...starting with a 386DX and Windows 3.1, and kept advancing), and my home project studio has 3 desktop/server computers all with specific tasks (one for MIDI to trigger soundcards/keyboards/outboard modules), one synced to that to trigger audio samples, and one tweaked out for audio only, which becomes "master" to the other two, when my MIDI composition is finished, and I start recording "real" instruments.

If I can figure out how to sync three computers, and a roomful of modules and keyboards, with three different versions of Windows...I SHOULD be able to figure out something that should be as easy as this should be...but I can't. I know and understand all the various "tweaks" and reasons for them, and have researched Magix site and web, in general...and have tried them all, in various combinations. It just will not record and play back in sync...ever.

I wonder if it even works to record realtime, in sync...or did I waste my money, and need to look elsewhere?

Thanks

Telebender

Hi

I just tried a similar thing recording from a SD webcam using the cameras audio and video and it does not work in MEP2014 either. The video speeds up and stutters near the start and the audio ends up 80frames or so out of sync.

It would be worth contacting Magix support and finding out what you can do, or expect.
