Movie Edit Pro 2015 - some issues with the trial

prizm4 wrote on 9/10/2014, 8:51 AM

Well first off when I did custom install for the MEP 2015 trial, it tried to install some software called Simpliclean which has nothing to do with video editing (smells a bit like spyware).

Now that I've loaded the program, once again just like MEP 2014, the trial is missing parts of its functionality. No collages, no test images, no backgrounds, no Intros/Outros (some other stuff is missing as well, I think). I use solid-color backgrounds (mattes) often for my videos, and I can't test this part of the software. There's also no way to download these features. It's frustrating that they remove product features from the trial, it just make me more apprehensive about buying it.

I don't think I fully understand the Movement Templates. If I apply an effect, I can't seem to remove it. Say I add 3 'movement templates', I can't remove the one I don't want. Eventually I found it created a ton of keyframes. Is that the only way to get rid of the effect, by deleting all the keyframes and starting again? I then found I had to remove the keyframes from both the size/position area and also the camera/zoom area as well, depending on the effect.

A minor issue I encountered:
When I'm in the Effects tab and have various sub-menus open, I can't scroll up or down the menus with the mouse wheel. I have to use the scroll bar and drag it down.

On the positive side, I do like the way you can click a video clip and easily create a fade in/fade out or drop its opacity. And also being able to drag another clip on top to create a cross-fade.

Hi,

Backgrounds are just jpg files. Try copying from C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2014 Plus\VideoEffects\BackgroundEffects\Pictures to the same location in 2015. Include the ini file.

The others are just fluff, nothing to do with the functionality of the program.

Movement templates sounds new. Can we have a screen shot?

Mouse wheel scrolling on the menus - did you try it with the mouse over the scroll bar?

Fade in/out and drop opacity - what is different from 2014?

Same with cross-fade in previous versions, simply drag the end of one clip onto another. What changed?

Correction, Movement templates are also in 2014. I've never used them; always made my own.

The movement effect should show up in the key-framing part, as you noticed. See the image below. You should be able to remove the effect using the right-click menu, delete effects.

2015 should do the same. However, if you have 2 movement templates that use the same effect, like size/position, this will delete all of them, not just one effect. You can right-click on any of the keyframed effects shown in the image above to delete the effect; no need to remove individual keyframes. Do you see anything here that is not in 2014?

SIMPLICLEAN - is an advert program. It will scam, sorry, scan your computer, tell you that you have all kinds of problems and that you should buy the program to correct the problems. Don't! Get the thing off of your computer.

Hi

Further to what John has said - you can disable any effect by removing the tick next to the effect at the left of the keyframer, or you can remove the effect by clicking on the opposing arrows at the top right of the effects adjustment window (above "Preview" in the screen shot).
