Movie Edit Pro 2018 - Tiny Menu Fonts!

Brother-Charles wrote on 5/17/2018, 1:43 AM

Hello Everyone, Brother Charles here. I'm brand new to this forum. I've been a forum member over on the Magix Samplitude forum since a while, but that won't do me much good for this query . . .LOL.

I would really like, to "like" Movie Edit Pro 2018", but I can't hardly see a blessed thing on any of it's GUI elements. Menu fonts, numbers on the timeline and etc., are so tiny, tiny, tiny! Is there a file I can manually edit to increase the size of the menu item fonts? I suspect the default QT 5 library fonts are set to only 7 or possibly 8 point. My 51 year old eyes need at least 11, if not 12 point fonts. I do wish that Magix would develop their apps to be more Windows-centric regarding GUI components. Especially the menu items.

Some programs facilitate changing font type and size in preferences dialogue boxes, but unfortunately, Movie Edit Pro 2018 doesn't offer this type of user control. I'm a little bit familiar with editing QT .conf files and such from back in my Linux days, but I haven't been able to figure out what or where I need to edit (if it's even possible) to increase the font size of the application's menu items and so forth. Can anyone help me?

Thanks much,
Bro. C

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

What size screen are you viewing the interface on? I use a 23" monitor, certainly not the biggest, and the various fonts etc. are "quite small" but I could hardly describe them as "tiny" (and by the way, my eyes are nearly 67 years old!).

The direct answer to your question is, I think, you can't!

Hi,

As Jeff says, there's no setting within MEP itself. But depending on your OS, which you haven't specified, you may be able to use the Windows Magnifier tool. Hold the Win key and press the '+/=' key to open it. Set if necessary to 200%. Close it with Win + Esc.

After scanning the more difficult sections a few times you'll hopefully soon be able to do without the tool.

This assumes, of course, that you can comfortably see text in other applications. If not then check out your overall Windows settings. This is from Win 10:

Hello Chaps. I'm using Windows 10 x64. My desktop scaling is set to 125%. I can see my normal windows programs, and other types of apps without issue (well, except for the tiny font in Kontakt).

@ emmrecs: Mine is a 17.4" ASUS laptop with a native rez of 1920 x 1080 dpi. Again, my Windows settings are set to a scaling factor of 125%.

@ terrypin: Yessir, thanks for the tip. LOL . . But me n' my old gruffy eyes already make plenty use of Win 10's magnifier . . . *Grin.
