Movie Edit Pro Premium Edit Glitch

Zach-Pierce wrote on 9/7/2020, 10:15 AM

So I decided to update Magix from 2020 to 2021 and when I am making my cuts or edits I always get this weird video glitch where it keeps wanting to loop the stuff that I cut out back into the new segment. Only way I can get past that is if I save the video, exit out and then go back into it. This happens every time I decided to make a cut or a edit and is now becoming very frustrating. Makes my editing take twice as long now just because of that issue. Is anyone else getting any weird glitches with this new update?

Hi Zach, and welcome to the user to user forum

It appears this update has caused more problems for users than previous updates for all sorts of different reasons. This has made it difficult for us other users to help other people out.

Those of us who are regular here haven't had that many problems with the update so it would help us greatly if you could provide as much information as possible. That would include complete machine specs, operating system build and version, as well as perhaps some screen shots of the project and information on the types of files you are using.

Safe to say you are the first one with this problem that we have seen.

Ray.

Hi Zach.

Well I can't fault the system setup without worrying about my own so it's probably the file format you are using to capture games. Variable frame rate files cause havoc with a lot of Video editing suites including MEP.

To see if your files are variable frame rate, use the free to download tool MediaInfo to look at the file data using the 'Tree View'.

If they are variable frame rate files, you need to capture the gameplay with a screen recorder capable of producing constant bit rate files or convert the files with something like Handbrake to constant frame rate files. Then there is a ten to one chance the problem will go away.

I ended up uninstalling it and reinstalling the program and so far it seems as though it has been fixed. I typically record my games at 60 FPS and I know the format on magix is 59.94 but I never had that issue with the 2020 version. So in the future I'll bump my video files down to 59.94 and see if that helps.

@Zach-Pierce

No need. MEP just needs steady frame rates. 60 should be fine. It's going from 54fps to say 60fps and back that causes problems.
