Hi.

First, it would be very useful to know exactly which version and variant of MEP you are running, and some details about your computer (OS, CPU, GPU, RAM, Hard Disc type and free space, etc., etc). At the moment we know nothing about either!

Looking at the Balcony template in MEP Premium 17.0.2.171 I see it "open" by default in Movie Overview rather than the Timeline, with no apparent way to access the latter - I will try and find a workaround to this later, hopefully - but I see a series of "placeholders", each of a designated length, into each of which the user is intended to place his/her own footage. I don't have time to test this out now but my guess is that those designated lengths actually adjust as user footage is introduced. IOW, the whole template can/will become the overall length desired by the user.

Hi,

MEP has some limitations vs VPX and this is one of them.

The preview of Balcony or Balkony is actually 39:02 long, but only 14:16 when imported to the timeline. The program modifies/truncates the song to fit.

The preview and the song are located at:

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Plus\2018\MovieTemplates\Preview

depending on your version, and the song is called: 2015_Balkony.ogg

You have several choices, live with the length, complete the template and click on the check mark to put it on the timeline and then modify it as you wish, or import the original song and make your own video.

See my tutorial on Movie Templates:

VPX creates variations of the template for approx. 15s, 30s, 60s and 120s and makes modifications to the song to suit the length. Again, the lengths are not exact as the music is probably going to govern.

So, you have not done anything wrong, that`s just the way it is.

Its odd they would show a 38 second template preview but only offer 14 seconds of actual template?

Hi

. . . . Its odd they would show a 38 second template preview but only offer 14 seconds of actual template? . . . .

You can specify the preset template actually run time by selecting the template then click the cog icon shown below to open the length select dialog then click add to timeline arrow or drag the template to the timeline.

If you just add or drag the template to the timeline you get the default length which is 15 secs long.

Wow! That is obscure. I didn't notice that as I didn't first select one of the tiles. I simply moused over, clicked on the Play arrow - no gear button. Then, I clicked on the Import button, still no gear. This is a new "feature" that sounds good but is not so good in practice. The old way was much more obvious. I presume that VPX will inherit this new feature.

I wonder how many more features like that have been introduced in the new style.

Below is the old way (MEP2016) and the present way in VPX:

When did "mouse" become a verb?

I learned 2 things I did not know... first from John CB that I could preview the video clip in the viewer, get it to the point i want then set the start marker then bring into the template. Second the actual solution to me question from John EB.... Thanks everyone.....
