Movie is longer than project

jimmybigfoot wrote on 12/31/2017, 4:05 AM

Hi all, I am new to this forum and relatively new to magix movie edit pro premium.

I have a small issue when I export a movie as mpeg-4 the exported clip is longer then the project which is stretching the video and causing massive lip syncing issues. For example, a 3 minute project is around 3:40m exported. Is there some settings that aren't correct? I have exported in mpeg and it is perfect but I would prefer mp4. P.s. I don't haveany blank spaces in the project to make it longer.

Thanks

Jim

Solved it guys. It was because I was using some digitized hi8 footage and the file was giving movie edit pro the wrong default fps of 29.97 and the original camera recorded the footage at 25.

Hi

Welcome to the forum.

. . . . the file was giving movie edit pro the wrong default fps of 29.97 . . . .

To clarify - Movie Edit Pro (MEP) does not change a projects resolution automatically when you mix different resolution/framerate video clips.

A projects resolution, frame rate and interleaved/progressive video are determined in the project settings as shown below

however if you add a video to the timeline that is of a different aspect ratio (AR) , resolution or frame rate this popup will appear

the option you click will determine what happens to the project settings

Adjust - changes to project setting to those of the video being imported in the example the example above the project becomes

Do not adjust - the projects settings remain as originally set and the movie is adjusted to fill the screen completely if the same AR or pillar/letter boxed depending on its AR.

The length of the clip is not changed with the change in framerate - there must be some other ciause of the change in length - 12 sec clip at 30 fps is still a 12 sec long clip ion the timeline of a 25 fps project, similalrly when exported to 25 fps it is still 12 secs long if it is unedited.

The only occasion the length can change is if the framerate of the video clip is variable.

You can use MediaInfo to analyse the Hi8 clip to determine if this is the case. If the video framerate is variable then it must be converted to constant framerate.
