Moving a Section

Foolishly, I took a video vertically ie 1080x1920. I thought I'd be smart as it was going to go onto Whatsapp. Unfortunately, I am too close to the subject and need to pan vertically, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to keyframe it. I set the "Section" frame up as I want, but the keyframe line is greyed out and I cannot therefore set the start and end KFs. Essentially, I'm trying to pan up the video a bit but can't. Any tips would be most gratefully received. During my MEP hiatus, the KF function has changed a lot and I think I'm missing something obvious.

Here's a still of the situation: I want to move the Section up as the video progresses, because the clown on the roof is about to jump!

Hi Alwyn.

You need the effect to the side of the one you are using. Select the Size / Position effect and you will get your key editor.

Section does not keyframe, however once you have added a section you can keyframe it using the Top value in Size & Position to scroll up or down the clip/image, this method does have problems if you change the section.

My preferred method is to set the width of the vertical shot to the same width as the project in Size & Position, the height will adjust automatically if Maintain Proportions is set, then keyframe the Top value in Size & Position to scroll up or down the clip/image from your desired starting point to the end point.

Thanks guys. Pondering overnight made me realise I was actually trying to move the "selection" (not the "section") across the screen; in effect, the Ken Burns effect. I don't think I explained what I was after very well in my first post.

I just used the Camera/Zoom shot function setting keyframes to pan up the video.
