MP4 video importing slanted

NTF07 wrote on 2/15/2014, 2:09 PM

Hi there,

I am trying to import a video into Magix Movie Edit Pro 2014 but every time I import it, it seems to come out as slanted/skewed and I cannot figure out as to what is causing this. I have used the program for other videos before and never had this problem (I am still fairly new to the program and video editing in general). If anyone can shed some light on this and maybe how to resolve I would greatly appreciate it :)

Video Size/Runtime: 2.69GB / 00:47:26

Format: MP4

Res/FPS: 1276 x 720/29.97

Bitrate: 8131kbps

Hi,

Is it just this one frame that is skewed, or are all frames skewed?  Also is this a analog or digital recording?

Hi

What is the source of the mp4?

The only case of this I have seen was caused by copyright protection on a commercial DVD.

Hi,

I've had similar inexplicable slanted displays in the preview monitor exactly like that. But none recently enough to recall details. And I've been unable to find any of my posts about it, if I wrote any. Or any files exhibiting it. But as I never work with copyrighted commercial DVDs I know that wasn't the cause in my case.

But FWIW I think it arose when importing video I'd captured using CamStudio. I vaguely recall that I then tried other video codec options in CamStudio and recaptured and reimported until I got one that worked. So that would have been MEP being unable to handle a particular codec that worked elsewhere on my XP PC.

Presumably that video plays OK in your other players?

Did you try it after setting different project presets?

Can you upload a short segment of the file that exhibits the display corruption so that we can try it?

Well, it's been about 16 months since we tried to help solve what sounded like a pressing problem. I was wondering if you had any feedback for us?
