You don't - for MOV files you need to install Quicktime which is free. You only need the mpg codec for mpg's and MEP will prompt you when this is needed and give you a link to purchase if necessary.

My apologize. I wrote .MOV files. In fact it is .MOD files from a JVC GZ MG harddisk cam. I continue to get the message that the files not can be opened. System message is missing MPEG 2 codec due to licensing issue.
The message would indicate you are using the trial version of MEP?
If so you cannot activate the codec as this is a third party item which is licenced to Magix, when you purchase the full version of MEP then you can activate the codec because it is then paid for.
