MPEG-2 Transport Stream (M2TS) audio format no longer supported?

Antoine-Lafortune wrote on 1/9/2021, 9:11 AM

Since my last update of Movie Edit Pro, I've got the following message when I want to import an m2ts file : "The audio format of your source file is not supported. Please use other programs for conversion".

I've tried to activate the codec exporting the projet in the same format but it doesn't work. Any clue?

The information you have posted does not appear to be from MediaInfo, it also does not tell us the information required.

Please use MediaInfo and post all the analysis data from the Text view as requested.

Ray - I see no indication it is a time-lapse - it may have been recorded on a mobile device or camera with GPS on.

Hi John.

Six seconds duration with fifteen images but recorded at 59.94 fps and a shutter exposure of 30 seconds per frame doesn't make any sense as a normal movie file. It could be some kind of stitched panorama that needs stitching first.

Antoine has posted what looks like the Meta Data contained in a normal AVCHD .mts file from MEP>Object Properties>Meta Data Tab and of course as John has pointed out we need the Media Info to see why he is getting that message.

@Antoine-Lafortune

Are you using a PC with Windows 7? MEP latest version has removed Import and export support for AC3 Dolby Digital 5.1 on Win 7 installations and DD5.1 export on Win8 and 10.

Please see my comments in this recent discussion : https://www.magix.info/us/forum/cannot-export-to-mpg4--1262821/?page=1.

Hi Peter,

You have absolutely nailed it. I use Windows 7 and my files come from my Sony camcorder, in an AVCHD file.

And as you mentioned, I took the metadata from the object properties directly in MEP. I didn't know the MediaInfo tool but I downloaded it right away. Very useful piece of software.

You mentioned 5.1 which means the stereo mode should do it? Stereo should be just fine for my project. I'll give a try tomorrow with my shotgun.

Thanks for this information, very helpful.

Antoine

Hi Antoine

Please try setting your camera to stereo sound and test MEP again but because of this statement from Magix Support, in the other thread, it may not work:

Due to the end of support for Windows 7, unfortunately it is no longer possible for us to support AC3 Stereo..... Sound for import or export.

You may be able to record stereo with you external shotgun mic with another audio codec using MP4 (ie AAC LC or PCM) however.

Bon chance!

Hi

For the existing video try converting it in Handbrake to the same format changing only the audio to AAC Stereo and it should import directly into MEP.

@Scenestealer

As you suspected, it neither works in stereo mode : I've got the same error message. Seems I'll have to find a workaround, like video conversion or as you suggested, use another audio codec.

@johnebaker

I downloaded and tried HandBrake. (I use "Any Video Converter" instead for my conversion.) So far so good. Thanks for the tip!

@AAProds

Yes that's right, I didn't have any issue with the 2020 version. I tried also to downgrade, but I couldn't since the magix licence validation didn't recognize my previous licence number.
